Target Audience
This conference is designed for physicians, infection preventionists, healthcare epidemiologists, infectious disease specialists, microbiologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals interested in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, surveillance, research methods, patient safety and quality improvement.

Overall Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Identify the research, tools, and strategies employed in an effective antimicrobial stewardship program and how to employ them in diverse settings.
  • Describe various statistical and research methods that are applied in epidemiology that will assist in developing new research projects and grant applications.
  • Identify the techniques and methods involved in surveillance and outbreak investigation.
  • Interpret trends in the transmission and control of epidemiologically important pathogens.
  • Identify the role of the CDC and public health departments in surveillance and outbreak investigation.
  • Define solutions and tools that will help to overcome various roadblocks that can arise in the real-world of epidemiology.

Physicians
